Dear Delegates and Sponsors,
Welcome to RAMMUNC I! It is my distinct honor to invite you to RAMMUN's first ever high school conference, held April 19-20, 2024, at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. I am excited and grateful to announce that this conference comes with special support from Dean Catherine Ingrassia and the VCU College of Humanities and Sciences.
Model United Nations at VCU acknowledges that our event takes place on the traditional lands of the Powhatan Chiefdom and honors the ongoing story of Virginia's Indigenous nations. Throughout the course of this conference weekend, we hope delegates will reflect about what this means. To consider those that have come before us, and how we can proceed meaningfully as the next generation of politically minded changemakers to honor our past, present, and future.
It is difficult to think about Richmond and what makes our city unique without considering the James River. This year, RAMMUNC is proud and excited to partner with the James River Association, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to protecting and restoring this essential and historic waterway. I sincerely hope that you will join us in supporting the JRA and its efforts to conserve vital Virginian natural resources.
I caught the MUN bug as a freshman at Osbourn Park High School in Manassas. Now, eight years later, I am beyond honored and humbled to be leading RAMMUN into a new era and its first conference. Model UN has been an important part of my high school and college years. This club has taught me so many invaluable skills, including how to find my voice and be a better leader, and brought me wonderful friendships and memories. I am incredibly grateful for these past eight years, and I hope that your experience this weekend and going forward will provide some of the same to you.
Lastly, I would like to take a moment to extend the gratitude of our secretariat and staff for your support. This conference would not be possible without delegates like you. Thank you.
All my best,
Secretary-General
