ASEAN

Specialized Agency - Association of Southeast Asian Nations

Committee Synopsis: The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is a regional political and economic organization composed of 10 Southeast Asian member states. ASEAN is becoming increasingly wary of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and climate change in the Pacific. Work with other delegates to ensure a proactive response to these challenges and to protect developing countries in the region. There must be a way to progress and maintain peace for these states. Decide what should be done about infrastructure and the environment and invest in the best course of action.

Chair: Mack Blair
Hey guys! My name is Mack and I’m from Alexandria, Virginia. I’m a freshman at VCU majoring in sociology and minoring in political science. I did Model UN for four years in high school, so I’m super excited to get back into it in college! Outside of classes, I’m on the ultimate frisbee team, host a radio show on WVCW, and am an illustrator for the Pwatem magazine. I also love to cosplay and play video games in my free time. Best of luck with your committee preparations and I look forward to seeing you all soon!
